7BR’s members are regularly instructed in respect of private law applications under the Children Act 1989 and related legislation. Members frequently act for parents or extended family members in the higher courts, and where the Court is engaged in settling the arrangements for children and young people. Members are instructed in respect of applications for relocation and residence in respect of children, shared residence, removal from the jurisdiction, special guardianship, contact, and upon prohibitive steps and specific issues surrounding educational issues and medical treatment where there is disagreement between parents.

If the court is likely to be assisted by expert evidence in any particular case, members are able to advise in respect of appropriate experts to instruct. 7BR offers the detailed and specialist advice necessary for clients to litigate matters efficiently. Members recognise that recourse to the family courts in respect of children is both stressful and difficult for parents (and grandparents where applicable), and aim to give clear advice in respect of the process and likely outcomes at an early stage in proceedings.

Where issues of paternity, parental responsibility, or removal from the jurisdiction are concerned, clients are well served by both the trial skills of our individual members and the depth of our collective experience.
