7BR members provide representation and advice upon the full range of serious sexual offence cases, offering a sensitive, effective and discrete service throughout.
Members have been involved in high profile cases involving celebrity defendants, stranger attacks, and serial offenders. They are experienced in dealing with allegations involving rape and serious sexual assault, coercive control, grooming, illegal images and sexual exploitation.
Members are highly skilled in working with vulnerable witnesses and defendants, and possess strong knowledge of the special measures used to support them, including the use of screens and intermediaries, and restrictions on cross-examination. Members also work in Youth Courts and with cases involving children and other vulnerable victims.
Members are experienced court room advocates. Their multi-disciplinary experience supports them in cross-examining medical and technical expert witnesses, requiring forensic detail and meticulous preparation.
Members also act in related civil and public law cases and hearings, including historic child abuse cases and public inquiries, such as the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA).
Some members train or advise professionals including CPS lawyers and the police who work with victims and defendants in sexual abuse cases. They also advise on the complex legal and social issues arising in trafficking, honour crimes and coercive control cases.
