Members of 7BR’s Serious Crime team have prosecuted and defended some of the most high profile and notorious homicide cases to come before the courts both in this jurisdiction and overseas.

7BR’s heritage is steeped in criminal law. Chambers has produced two Lord Chief Justices (Lord Lane & Lord Judge), two Lord Justices of Appeal (Lord Justice Goldring & Lady Justice Thirlwall), and numerous High Court Judges, Crown Court Judges, and King’s Counsel who have practised in this area of work.

Chambers has unrivalled, high level expertise in dealing with cases involving:

• R v Pitchfork, in which DNA evidence was first used in a criminal court;
• The Selby Rail Crash;
• The Trusthorpe Murders by notorious gangster Colin Gunn;
• The M50 murder of Marie Wilkes;
• The rape and murder of Estella Scott-Roberts in Grand Cayman, and
• R v Bendall, in which a whole life tariff was imposed for four murders among other offences.

7BR members regularly deal with cases involving contract killings, joint enterprise and gang-related murders, knife crime, sexually motivated killings, shootings, baby shaking and infant deaths, domestic homicides, cases involving the partial defences of diminished responsibility and loss of control, gross negligence and one-punch manslaughter, deaths in custody, and catastrophic road collisions.
