7BR’s Collingwood Thompson KC and David O’Mahony have been successful in the Privy Council in three consolidated appeals all arising from the same case. They were instructed by HM Attorney General for Jersey.
The appeals concerned important issues in international law involving State Immunity, the extent of extra-territorial jurisdiction of saisies judiciaries (freezing orders) in aid of confiscation orders made in courts in Indonesia, and the nature and extent of the powers granted to courts in Jersey to freeze assets held abroad but controlled under a trust based in Jersey.
