Chambers is pleased to announce that Bridging the Bar (BTB) won the ‘Equality and Diversity’ award at the Birmingham Law Society’s 2023 Legal Awards which were held on Thursday 9 March. This came just seven days after the charity won the ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ award at the Modern Law Awards 2023.
The Birmingham Law Society represents over 5,000 legal professionals in Birmingham and the Greater Midlands, making it the largest regional Law Society in the UK outside of London. Each year, the society hosts the Legal Awards, which feature 12 award categories that celebrate the best legal talent in the region. The Modern Law Awards website explains that they also share the ambition of “identifying and celebrating the very greatest talent and success stories in the UK legal sector.”
BTB was founded by 7BR’s Mass Ndow-Njie, an award-winning charity committed to promoting equality of opportunity at the Bar and advancing the legal careers of underrepresented groups. In November of last year, BTB also won the ‘Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year’ at the Pro Bono Awards 2022 organised by Advocate.
