Gordon Aspden QC and Dr Ellie Brown were involved in the Wellingborough sex attacker case where a woman was subjected to violent sexual assault and left for dead.
Gordon Aspden QC, instructed by CPS East Midlands, prosecuted in a case involving the rape and near-fatal assault of a young woman. He led Dr Ellie Brown, one of Chambers’ pupils.
The defendant, Sergiu Boianjiu, 38, was charged and convicted of attempted murder and rape following a two-week trial at Northampton Crown Court on 26 August 2022.
This case is a grim reminder of the importance of addressing the dangers women continue to face today. Judge David Herbert QC has adjourned the case and is considering imposing a life sentence on the defendant, who is currently remanded in custody awaiting the sentencing decision.
