7BR Member Conor Dufficy represents Peter Batley, a former Major in the Royal Marines, in his claim against the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for negligent diagnosis and treatment of a hamstring injury which has left Batley with a permanently weak leg.
Batley was injured during a rugby incident with the army rugby league in 2015. He claims that had the army medics correctly diagnosed the injury, he would have received the correct treatment at an earlier stage and his hamstring would have healed appropriately. Instead, he is now unable to engage in physical sporting activities or his position as a Major in the Marines.
The MoD denies the allegations stating the army medics diagnosis was appropriate given the symptoms that Batley presented with at the time.
The case has been reported in The Times here.
