On 16th February 2017, following a three week trial before the Recorder of Nottingham, Gordon Aspden, leading David Allan, secured the conviction of Sukhraj Singh Atwal for the murder of 74 year old Satnam Singh.
The case involved the presentation of highly complex circumstantial and expert evidence.
The defendant denied that he was the killer.
Atwal was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 20 years for what the trial judge described as a “brutal and merciless attack”.
