An award of damages with a capitalized value of £9.93M was approved in the High Court in Leeds last week, made as a consequence of failures during the birth of a 6-year old boy at the Harrogate District Hospital in 2008. The child suffered dystonic athetoid cerebral palsy as a result of a hypoxic ischaemic brain injury and now requires a substantial care package. Derek Sweeting QC and Adam Walker represented the young child and his family.
