As your case progresses your barrister will provide you with advice and advocacy services. Barristers are independent and self-employed and work alongside and in liaison with your solicitor.
In broad terms your solicitor will provide the day to day conduct of your case or matter, dealing with things like correspondence and interviewing witnesses. Your solicitor will communicate with your barrister on your behalf. Although you are likely to meet your barrister only once or twice, he or she will be more involved immediately before and of course during any court hearing and will be available when you or your solicitor feel you need some advice or assistance from him or her.
