Nia Frobisher has a mixed common law practice, undertaking the breadth of chambers work.

She joined chambers in October 2018 after successful completion of pupillage.

Nia’s regular appearance in court for both Claimants and Defendants/Respondents, in a wide range of disciplines, has made her an adaptable and confident advocate. As well as enjoying a busy court practice, Nia frequently advises on quantum and liability and is well versed in drafting pleadings. She has a confident and analytical approach, which she combines with an easy and approachable manner with clients.

Nia undertook her pupillage under the supervision of Jeffrey Jupp, Anwar Nashashibi, Jonathan Bertram and Anita Guha. Prior to commencing pupillage, Nia was employed as a paralegal at Stewarts LLP supporting a senior partner in the personal injury department. She studied Law at King’s College London and was called to the Bar in 2016 as a Scholar of the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn, graded ‘Outstanding’ on completion of her BPTC. Nia was awarded both the Prince of Wales Scholarship and Residential Scholarship by her Inn.

Nia has previously volunteered for Action Against Medical Accidents and SNAP Cymru.

Legal Expertise

Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence

Nia has developed experience in a broad range of personal injury and clinical negligence work. She is regularly instructed in both Fast-Track and Multi-Track matters, attending conferences, interim hearings, CCMCs and trials.  She has experience in a range of clinical negligence, highways’, road traffic, employers’, occupiers’ and product liability matters. In addition to significant time spent in court, Nia also has a busy paperwork practice and advises on liability, evidence and quantum in both personal injury and clinical negligence claims.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Nia was employed as a paralegal at Stewarts LLP supporting a senior partner in the personal injury department. Working closely with her team, she engaged in complex high value cases with both personal injury and clinical negligence elements.

Nia has previously volunteered for Action Against Medical Accidents and SNAP Cymru. Particularly, through her work with SNAP Cymru, Nia has developed a detailed understanding of working with children and young people with additional learning needs and disabilities.


Family Law

Nia undertakes both public and private children work. She has been instructed to represent parents, local authorities and guardians. She has represented vulnerable clients with learning difficulties and mental health problems, and is committed to ensuring every client is able to engage in the court process. Nia has been instructed in cases involving allegations of non-accidental injuries, with complex multi-disciplinary medial evidence.

Nia also represents the police in disclosure matters involving family proceedings, including applications where Public Interest Immunity is asserted.


Inquests & Inquiries

Nia accepts instructions to represents parties at inquest. She has most frequently represented families at inquests involving potential medical negligence.

In 2018/2019 Nia was instructed by the Met Police in the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA).


Court of Protection

Nia accepts instructions in respect of both welfare and property and affairs matters in the Court of Protection and is keen to develop her practice in this area. She has been involved in a number of injury claims where the court of protection has had involvement and believes this experience will assist her in future court of protection work. She has experience acting for protected parties and local authorities in the other areas of her work.

Nia has a particular interest in mental health law, having volunteered for many years for a charity dealing with children and young people with learning difficulties.


Commercial

Nia has advised and represented at court in various commercial matters, for both individuals and companies. She has undertaken matters involving contract disputes, debt collection and insolvency. She represents both Claimants and Defendants and is frequently instructed on behalf of universities. Nia is keen to develop her practice involving contract disputes. Nia also enjoys injury work with a commercial element.
