Deborah Airey accepts instructions across Chambers’ core practice areas including general crime, family, civil, employment law and personal injury.
Before joining 7BR, Deborah worked as a childcare paralegal for a Local Authority. She was also an advice worker for Citizens Advice with the East Midlands Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia Network (EMSTN) where among other work she secured permanent funding for the project.
As a volunteer for the Free Representation Unit (FRU), Deborah successfully represented a client before the Social Security Tribunal, with the client being awarded a substantial payment. Deborah has also advised and assisted clients on housing matters, through the City Law School Community Legal Advice Clinic.

During her pupillage, Deborah assisted Pavlos Panayi KC on a trial of attempted murder in which a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity was secured for the defendant.
Deborah undertakes prosecution and defence work in the Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court. She is also authorised to appear in the Youth Court.

Represented a defendant charged with possession of a knife in a public place. Successfully submitted that there was no case to answer, resulting in a full acquittal.

Deborah is developing a strong personal injury practice. In addition to conducting small claims and fast track trials, Deborah has provided advice on prospects of success and quantum for claims arising out of the Animals Act 1971.

CB v A Local Authority
Successfully defended a personal injury claim under the Highways Act 1980 for damages arising from an alleged dangerous defect in the carriageway.

Deborah accepts instructions in private and public family law. Deborah has experience across the full range of private family hearings, such as initial applications, directions hearings, dispute resolution appointments and fact-findings.

SA v MM
Acted as counsel for the mother in a 3-day fact finding concerning allegations of physical, emotional, sexual and financial harm. Through meticulous preparation, Deborah obtained every finding of fact sought by the mother.
