Anwar Nashashibi is a highly regarded advocate and lawyer who appears in serious and complex criminal and personal injury cases.
Anwar is instructed by defence and prosecution teams in particularly difficult and sensitive cases across the spectrum of serious crime, including serious sex cases, murder, drug conspiracies, complex fraud, bribery, corruption, and money laundering. He has dealt with expert evidence in many areas including: complex brain injuries and other medical evidence, blood spattering, bio-mechanics, hawala banking, company formation, share issues and manipulation and DNA. He is chosen for cases involving child and vulnerable witnesses.

Anwar has specialised in fraud, money laundering and corruption for many years, receiving instructions in high profile and high value cases in the UK and abroad. He has dealt with cases involving corruption, hawala banking, manipulation of off-shore trust and corporate structures, share price and financial instrument manipulation and tax evasion. A former member of the A panel of SFO approved counsel, he defends SFO prosecutions.
He has substantial experience of offshore and international work, having been instructed by private and public clients in Jersey, Guernsey, Bahrain, TCI and the Isle of Man. While such cases often concern financial misconduct and asset recovery, he accepts instructions across the spectrum of criminal and regulatory law, appearing with a special advocate’s licence in the Isle of Man’s most notable sex case.
Anwar has considerable experience of cross-border investigations, having worked with authorities in multiple jurisdictions in Africa, Asia, the US and Europe. In doing so he has advised on issues of state immunity, extradition and jurisdiction as well as international co-operation.
