Daniel Bishop, instructed by the CPS, prosecuted Adam Georgeson, an IT technician. Georgeson instigated a cyber-attack on two of his former employers, a school, and an IT firm. The cyber-attack halted remote learning for four days, caused pupils to lose coursework, and erased thousands of personal photos.
Georgeson pleaded guilty to two counts of unauthorised acts with intent to impair operation of or prevent/hinder access to a computer. He was given a 21 month sentence, half of which he will serve in prison before being released on licence.
The case has been reported by the BBC, which can be viewed here.
