Elaine Banton has today been featured in The lawyer as Barrister of the Week. Luke Barr, describes Elaine as ‘The 7BR junior tackling discrimination head-on.’
Elaine, instructed by Shazia Khan of Cole Khan Solicitors, successfully represented Semhar Tesfargiorgis in a race discrimination claim in the Employment Tribunal against Crown London Aspinalls, which Luke discusses with Elaine throughout the interview.
Luke states ‘It is the confrontation of such issues that demonstrates how important Banton’s practice can be’ and as Elaine puts it: ‘A case can actually lead to cultural change in other workplaces because it sparks a discussion. It can be a vehicle for change.’
