James Macdonald acted for the family of an engineer and father of three who was tragically killed in a road traffic accident back in June 2015 when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by an oncoming car. A settlement was negotiated of £810,000 with the insurers of the other driver. This included loss of dependency claims for the deceased’s widow and his 3 young daughters under the Fatal Accidents Act 1976. James advised and represented the family throughout and appeared on their behalf at a (remote) hearing in the High Court in July 2020 where the structure of the settlement was approved.
James was instructed by Wilkin Chapman LLP, Grimsby, for the family.
