Maryam Syed was delighted to be invited to join an excellent panel of speakers including Courtenay Griffiths QC and Daniel Holt to speak at the Cake and Counsel event last night discussing Inclusion Networking. The event was in conjunction with Queen Mary Bar Society and Kings Bar and Mooting Society. The room was filled with an array of barristers, pupil barristers and other legal practitioners, to take about their experiences of inclusivity at the Bar.
Cake & Counsel have been running events for aspiring lawyers since 2017. They focus on hosting ‘less formal’ and more peer-based networking events for those who may not know established lawyers to give them more access to and comfort in networking with such. It focuses not only on succeeding in their career pursuits, but on welfare when doing so.
