On Monday, Jersey, the United States and Nigeria signed a landmark asset sharing agreement in the Treaty Room of the US State Department in Washington DC. This agreement was for the return of over US$ 300 million to Nigeria following proceedings in Jersey and the United States. The agreement sets out the use to which the monies will be put in Nigeria and provides for ongoing independent audit and monitoring. David O’Mahony acted for Jersey in the proceedings and in the negotiation and drafting of the agreement.
