Please join us and Forensic Access for a seminar on:
The rise of abdominal injuries and starvation; parallel family and criminal proceedings.
Tuesday 21st January, 5:45pm – 8:00pm at 7BR
7BR is delighted to host a talk from a pathologist Dr Sacha Kolar. Dr Kolar is an excellent witness, as anyone who has worked with him will testify – thoughtful, on top of his topic and able to communicate. He has noticed abdominal injuries and malnutrition are an increasing part of his work. His comments will be of interest to any practitioner, criminal or family, who deals with these cases – whether it has got as far as a death – what to expect, what symptoms are significant look for and as important what can be misleading.
Deaths or the precursor injuries provoke criminal and family proceedings. There will be (short) presentations on:
17:45pm: Arrival
18:00pm: Dr. Kolar – ‘The Forensic Pathology of Paediatric Abdominal Injuries’
18:45pm: Legal Presentations by David Matthew & Hari Kaur Disclosure in parallel proceedings. What a criminal prosecution or defence team should be looking for from family or care proceedings and the relevant applications to make and the questions in reverse from a family proceedings perspective.
19:05pm: Kendall Platt, Forensic Access – ‘Areas of expert witness evidence to challenge and consider: An Overview’
19:15pm: Q&A followed by Networking
