Pavlos Panayi QC represented Alexis Varela who was one of five defendants prosecuted in relation to the fatal stabbing of Beniamin Pieknyi. Mr Pieknyi died after being stabbed in a shopping centre in East London by Vladyslav Yakymchuk who pleaded guilty to murder and received a life sentence with a 24 year minimum term.
Mr Varela, aged 19, was convicted of violent disorder and sentenced to 40 months imprisonment.
