Derek Sweeting QC and Richard Baker acted on behalf of RFD, an 11 year old boy who suffered quadriplegic cerebral palsy as a consequence of admitted negligence during the course of his birth.
HHJ Platts QC, sitting as a Deputy High Court Judge today approved a settlement that will provide RFD with a lump sum of £6,500,000 and periodical payments of £125,000 to age 19 and then £214,000 for life.
As made clear to the court today, the claim involved complex issues relating not only to accommodation claims in general but also a second home in the case of separated parents.
HHJ Platts had no hesitation in approving this settlement.
