Sentences were handed down this afternoon totalling nearly 79 years to nine members of the Rooney family, in England’s largest ever prosecution of forced labour offences. Two further family members received suspended sentences for financial offences. Members of chambers have been briefed in this case since November 2015. Alex Young and Chris Canning were instructed as first and second prosecution juniors. Graham Huston was instructed on behalf of one defendant who pleaded guilty in Trial 2.
