Yesterday evening, the Pro Bono Unit were joined by several local Chambers in welcoming their intrepid CEO and part-time adventurer, Jess Campbell, back to London after completing a gruelling 400 mile cycle.
The cycle was completed to highlight the importance of the Pro Bono Unit, thank members for their dedicated efforts, and raise money in order to support their essential work. Spanning the length of the country, Jess embarked on a slow descent through the hilly North calling at Newcastle, Manchester and Leeds along the way. Documented in degrees of hilarity, poignancy and exhaustion, Jess gives a full account of her ride on her blog, which you can find here.
As Jess explained last night, the purpose of this cycle was not only to raise awareness of the work of the Pro Bono team but to thank the myriad of barristers, Chambers and solicitors for their ongoing generosity and cooperation. The impact of free legal aid on the lives of those who need it is no doubt profoundly life changing. We are thrilled that we are able to support this fantastic team of people and will continue to pledge our support in the future.
