Samantha Jones represented the family of a RAF cadet in a five-day Article 2 inquest before HM Coroner Nadia Persaud in Walthamstow Coroner’s Court.
David Efemena died while sleeping out overnight on his first RAF cadet training weekend camp.
The Coroner delivered a narrative conclusion and made findings of fact, including that there was no supervision of cadets overnight, insufficient numbers of staff to cadets in breach of RAF policy and the exercise was not authorised at the required level. She made a report for the prevention of future deaths, recommending that the RAF consider having a defibrillator on cadet training exercises and recommending that the policy on communications between staff and cadets overnight is clarified.
