Tim Spencer QC successfully defends in Cayman Island murder trial
On Monday 25th July 2011, Roger Bush, defended by Tim Spencer QC of 7 Bedford Row, and alleged to be the “West Bay Drug Baron” was acquitted of murder before the Cayman Grand Court.
According to Cayman News, “the court erupted with emotional scenes” when Bush and his two co-defendants were found not guilty by the trial judge, Justice Harrison.
The case went before the Cayman Court of Appeal in August 2010, when the new Cayman law governing anonymity was tested. That court refused to grant anonymity for the prosecution’s key witness.
At trial, in late June/early July 2011, all three defendants elected judge only trial; ultimately the trial judge found that key witness not credible.
