7 Bedford Row support Michael Whitbread Scholarship

The University of Technology, Sydney and law graduate, Michael Whitbread, are launching a yearly
scholarship for law students to be flown to London to learn from the Barristers at 7 Bedford Row chambers.
The scholarshipis the brainchild of Australian law graduate Michael Whitbread and 7 Bedford Row’s Dr Thomas Hickie.

Michael is a determined young law graduate who is on a journey of a lifetime; motorcycling across the world from
London to Sydney. Dr Hickie is a former Judge of the High Court of Fiji and Barrister at 7 Bedford Row,
London.

The motivation for this exhilarating yet at times arduous journey through Europe and Asia comes from
Michael’s strong belief that when it comes to helping people through practising law, life experience is as
important as reading text books. It is this ideology which laid the foundation for this new scholarship. It will
provide ambitious and open minded law students with invaluable on the job experience with Dr Thomas
Hickie, and the other Barristers at 7 Bedford Row.

The Michael Whitbread scholarship will cover flights and expenses of the successful candidate to fly
to London and spend a couple of weeks working with top barristers at 7 Bedford Row.

This exciting opportunity will be funded by donations, and money raised will be matched dollar for dollar by The
University of Technology, Sydney.
