Life sentence for ringleader in terrorist plot

A man who had planned to kidnap a Muslim soldier serving in the British Army and murder him, "by having his head cut off like a pig" was today sentenced to life. Parviz Khan had planned to film the murder and distribute the images to cause widespread panic and fear. Shortly before his trial was due to begin, Khan pleaded guilty to the plot and to supplying equipment to terrorist fighters in Pakistan and Afghanistan just before the trial began.
Four other men were convicted of helping Khan supply equipment to terrorist groups and of failing to alert the authorities to his kidnap plot.
