7 Bedford Row appoints new Chief Executive
12 May 2008
7 Bedford Row is delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Rouse as our new Chief Executive with immediate effect.
Peter has 30 years’ experience of legal services and a proven record of commercial success in the legal profession. He qualified in 1983 with Lovells, where he later specialised in Intellectual Property. After working at Baker & McKenzie in Hong Kong, he returned to the UK and established Rouse & Co solicitors in July 1990, currently known as Rouse Legal. Under Peter’s leadership the firm also grew an international IP consulting business, Rouse & Co International, with offices in countries such as China, Indonesia, Vietnam and Dubai and the UAE.
Peter decided to leave the Rouse organisation in 2000 and has been involved in a number of business ventures in the legal sector and worked as a consultant since then. He is author of the book "Every Relationship Matters" published in 2007 by the American Bar Association.
Commenting on Peter’s appointment, Kate Thirlwall QC, Head of Chambers, said: “Peter’s background as a solicitor makes him ideally suited to this role and his formidable domestic and international experience of legal services will support our delivery of a consistently high standard of service to clients.
We were one of the first sets to employ a chief executive back in 2001 and this undoubtedly provided us with a platform for growth. Having a person such as Peter at the helm will allow us to further build on that momentum, developing new practice areas and making the most of opportunities in the changing legal market.”
Commenting on his new role, Peter said: “I am delighted to be joining such a forward thinking set at a time when new service opportunities are emerging in every direction. The tremendous breadth and depth of expertise in Chambers places 7 Bedford Row at the forefront of the legal services market.”
