Personal Injury

Praised by the Legal 500 as a "high-quality unit," 7 Bedford Row has long enjoyed the highest reputation in personal injury work, acting for both claimants and defendants. We work with many of the leading personal injury solicitors, representing major UK and European insurers, trade unions and individual and corporate clients. A strong team provides representation and advice at every level - from multi-million pound cases and multi-party actions in the House of Lords to low velocity road traffic accident claims. Advocacy has always been Chambers' great strength; however, the personal injury team has embraced the current trend away from trial work towards negotiated settlements and its members recognise the importance of strategic advice. Highly motivated, we have been very successful in this new arena, achieving optimum results for our clients.

We undertake work in all areas of the personal injury field. Senior members of the team are highly experienced in catastrophic injury claims. Members are particularly sought after for their expertise in industrial disease, specifically ergonomic/RSI claims, and also in stress at work claims. The team is regularly instructed in cases involving road traffic accidents, Highways Act claims, employers' and public liability, health and safety, product liability, criminal injuries compensation and sporting injuries. Members also appear in linked proceedings such as inquests and criminal prosecutions under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

The team is frequently involved in settling multi-million pound cases. Members have appeared in many high-profile cases including the MMR Vaccine litigation, the RTA-induced multiple sclerosis cases, the McDonalds "hot coffee" litigation and Cole v Davies-Gilbert & The Royal British Legion.

We have appeared in many leading cases involving abuse in local authority care. To learn more about our work in this niche area please select the Local Authority Liability link.

Team members regularly publish in specialist personal injury journals and they lecture and give seminars on a wide range of topics and areas of specialist interest.
