Maureen has the distinction of having appeared in some of the leading cases of recent times: she was first junior for the defence of Ian Huntley in the “Soham Murders” case (R v Huntley & Carr); as well as junior for the prosecution in the case of a 14 year old schoolboy who was murdered by stabbing by a fellow pupil whilst at their Lincolnshire school (R v Pennell).
Through exposure to such significant cases and others like them, whether large in scale or great in complexity, she has acquired vast experience of all serious crime which she has deployed in cases both in her own right and as a leading junior.
Coupled with her hallmark meticulous preparation and accessible manner, she has deservedly achieved recognition as recommended counsel by Chambers & Partners.
Her background in the NHS has enabled her to deal with cases where medical issues and practice are to the fore and she has been instructed for both the prosecution and by the Medical Defence Union in trials involving members of the medical profession.
