Martin Wilson QC's wide-ranging criminal practice encompasses all areas of serious crime but with a specialisation in complex, high-profile fraud and corruption cases, both in the UK and internationally.

His multi-jurisdictional instructions regularly involve appearances in the Court of Appeal and he has undertaken cases in the House of Lords, the Privy Council, the High Court, the Court of Final Appeal of Hong Kong, the High Court of Western Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur and the Court of Appeal of Malaysia. He is also involved in advisory work and consultations in Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Hong Kong and Australia.

He is also well known for his expertise in dealing with human rights issues, particularly in the conduct of trials in Hong Kong where the Bill of Rights has been in effect since 1991.

  • HKSAR v Cheng Sui Wa: Conspiracy to defraud involving HK$120 million
  • HKSAR v Chow Wai Choi & Ors: Conspiracy to defraud involving bogus letters of credit
  • HKSAR v Wong, Chui, Lam and Egan : conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice, involving a barrister and a solicitor
  • R v Abid Hussain [2005] EWCA Crim 31: 1970s murder conviction referrred to the Court of Appeal by the Criminal Cases Review Commission
  • Advised the Department of Justice of Hong Kong in cases concerning the former Financial Secretary, a former Judge of the Court of Appeal and the late Nina Wang.
