John Gillespie

As first junior criminal clerk, John has responsibility for the diary management and practice development of the junior members of the crime and business crime teams. He also assists Wayne, our senior clerk, in matters relating to the work of the criminal silks at 7 Bedford Row. Alongside Susie Dugdale, John also has responsibility for clerking the public and regulatory team in Chambers.

John began his career in 1989 at 2 Paper Buildings, the chambers of Desmond Da Silva QC, where he spent 10 years. He moved from there to 2 Plowden Buildings, where he gained experience in civil clerking. In 2001, John joined Hardwicke Crime, later to become 15 New Bridge Street, as first junior criminal clerk.

Outside work, John's main interests are his children and a passion for Arsenal Football Club. He is also a member of Surrey County Cricket Club and a keen golfer, with a handicap which drifts between 12 to 16.
