Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury

James has advised upon and undertaken numerous fast track and multi-track trials. He was recently instructed in relation to a six-figure negligence claim against the Department of Health. He has advised upon claims involving clinical negligence by surgeons, anesthetists and nurses.

James regularly undertakes cases involving stress at work, employer’s and occupier’s liability, road traffic accidents and Highways Act claims. He is also instructed in relation to claims against the police, as well as historic allegations of physical and sexual abuse. His experience of criminal cases and care proceedings makes him particularly well-suited to these types of claims. He also has experience of CICA hearings.

James is also regularly instructed by interested persons to appear at coroner’s inquests, including cases involving alleged fault by treating clinicians and hospital trusts.

James is happy to accept instructions on a CFA basis. He also occasionally undertakes inquests on a pro bono basis, particularly where there will, or may be, a claim for clinical negligence or personal injury arising from the death.
