Daniel joined chambers in October 2009 after successfully completing his pupillage.  His pupil supervisors were Adam Weitzman and Simon Thomas.  Daniel has a broad common law practice.

Crime

Daniel is predominately instructed for the defence in a wide range of matters.  During pupillage he gained extensive experience of work in the Crown Court.   He has appeared in plea and case management hearings, sentencing hearings, preliminary hearings and pre-trial reviews where the defendants have been accused of committing a wide range of offences including attempted robbery, burglary, serious sexual offences, assaults, and dangerous driving.  Despite his level of call, Daniel has already been instructed to appear in several Crown Court trials.

In the Magistrates’ Court, Daniel has represented a number of defendants on various driving matters.  He has prosecuted on behalf of the Department of Work and Pensions.  Daniel also has some experience of prison disciplinary hearings.

Civil

Daniel has appeared for claimants and defendants in a large number of small claims trials, interim applications, case management hearings and infant settlement hearings.  He has particular experience of mortgage possession claims and has provided advice on housing matters.  During the first six months of pupillage he gained experience of high value personal injury claims against employers and professional negligence claims against social workers.  Daniel is keen to develop his civil practice and is happy to accept instructions on a CFA basis.

Family

Daniel advises in both public and private family law cases.  The majority of his instructions in family cases are from parents who have been wrongly denied contact with their children and want to re-establish contact.  He has acted in a number of cases for the children’s guardian where there are disputed allegations of domestic violence.  Daniel has also appeared for a local authority in a contested interim care order hearing.  He has appeared in cases in the PFC, the county courts, and the High Court.

Employment

Daniel is seeking to build his employment law practice in line with the work currently undertaken by other members of chambers.  He has appeared for claimants and for respondents in employment tribunal hearings and pre trial reviews involving issues of unfair dismissal and sex discrimination.
