Ben joined chambers in October 2010 after successfully completing his pupillage.  He practises across all areas of chambers’ work.

Crime

Ben’s criminal practice encompasses both defence and prosecution. He is regularly instructed in cases involving allegations of serious violence, dishonesty, drugs and sexual offences. He is a Grade 2 prosecutor.

Corruption and White Collar Crime

Ben has recently acted as a junior on a complex international bribery and corruption case, involving both criminal and civil litigation.  He is on the Metropolitan Police list of independent counsel and has advised on difficult issues surrounding disclosure and legal professional privilege.

Extradition

In 2011 Ben spent six months on secondment with the Extradition Unit of the Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division of the CPS. He is now regularly instructed in extradition matters both at first instance and on appeal in the High Court.

Civil

Ben acts for claimants and defendants in fast track trials and multi-track hearings. During pupillage he gained experience of high value clinical negligence claims, personal injury claims against employers and professional negligence claims against social workers. 

Family

Ben has experience in public and private law children cases in the FPC, County Court and High Court.  He is often instructed on behalf of the children’s guardian, NYAS as well as acting for parents and other family members in contact and residence disputes.

Judicial Review and Inquiries

Prior to coming to the bar Ben gained experience working for the Public Law Project. He has maintained his interest in administrative law and judicial review since joining chambers and has developed particular experience of judicial review in the context of extradition proceedings.
