Recognised in The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners as a leading junior in police law, Adam has been described as: “a deadly advocate who adopts such a pleasant approach that, before you know it, he has beguiled the Judge and crucified you.” He is well known for his expertise in judicial review and for his advice on human rights issues. He continues to deal with the Parliamentary Square peace demonstrations.
Adam appeared for the expert witnesses in the recent landmark decision of Re Ward (a child) sub nom Drs. A and B (and others) [2010] EWHC 16 (Fam) and [2010] EWHC 38 (Fam) which dealt with anonymity of expert witnesses in family proceedings, and the wider issue of secrecy of the family court system. Legislation followed and Lord Justice Munby’s decision was the subject of a recent Panorama programme (August 2010).
Clinical negligence is now the dominant part of his practice (with a Claimant emphasis) with product liability an increasingly important focus. Adam is instructed by leading insurers in high value personal injury cases.
Adam has developed a niche practice, advising local authorities and bailiffs on policy, data protection and freedom of information issues.
He regularly appears at Coroners’ inquests and speaks on the impact of The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 in the clinical negligence context.
