Yvonne Coen QC

Yvonne Coen QC  is a highly respected and experienced advocate, both at first instance and in the appellate courts.  She undertakes criminal, family and disciplinary proceedings.  Yvonne has an excellent grasp of medical principles and evidence, and is well known for her ability to cross-examine effectively. 

Yvonne has wide ranging experience prosecuting and defending all aspects of serious crime: including homicide, international and domestic fraud, drug smuggling and supply, corruption, armed robbery, grave sex offences and fatal accidents.  She has been instructed by the SFO, HM Revenue and Customs, the Health & Safety Executive, and the DTI.

She has been involved in many cases in both family and criminal proceedings involving allegations of serious sexual or physical abuse against young children or babies, including “shaken baby” cases, and cases where allegations are made by children or patients against doctors, carers and others.  She also undertakes international family law cases.

Yvonne’s experience in acting within criminal, family and disciplinary proceedings enables her to readily appreciate the links between parallel sets of proceedings, and to secure effective implementation of disclosure regimes.
