John Pini QC is a highly experienced advocate, who is meticulous in his preparation and attention to detail. He undertakes criminal and children cases, and sits as a Recorder of the Crown Court.
Within his criminal practice, John both prosecutes and defends and has undertaken all types of serious crime. He has undertaken numerous cases for the prosecution including multi-complainant rape, indecent assault, corruption, mortgage fraud, VAT evasion, fraudulent trading, child cruelty, evasion of Excise duty, money laundering, death by dangerous driving, murder and manslaughter. He has appeared for the defence in substantial, complex and high-profile cases relating to corruption, fraud and drugs offences.
In the context of children cases, John has undertaken many cases where children have suffered or are alleged to have suffered non-accidental injury. In particular, where the issue has been which of two possible perpetrators was responsible. In a notable example, he prosecuted a mother who was alleged to have deliberately harmed a child over a number of months while the child was in hospital.
John's experience in acting within criminal and family proceedings enables him to readily appreciate the links between parallel sets of proceedings, and to secure the effective implementation of disclosure regimes.
