Recently appointed to the Attorney General's Panel of Special Advocates, Bilal has an extensive background in public and regulatory law having acted as junior counsel to the Bloody Sunday Inquiry. He undertakes inquest work, particularly in the area of health and safety.
Bilal is also instructed in Children Act proceedings - both public and private. He has acted in care proceedings and has experience of cases involving complex medical and psychological issues. Bilal is also an experienced criminal practitioner who has defended and prosecuted across the full range of work including serious crime and fraud.
He writes on his areas of expertise: recent articles have discussed the Corporate Manslaughter & Corporate Homicide Act 2007 and the changes to coroners inquests proposed in the new Counter-Terrorism Bill.
