Cited as a family law expert in Legal Experts (2008), Barbara has a specialist practice with an emphasis on public law child work.
She has extensive experience across all aspects of family law proceedings and local authority liability, but particularly in care proceedings, adoption, inherent jurisdiction and wardship in cases involving allegations of non-accidental head injury and other serious physical, emotional and sexual abuse.
Barbara also acts regularly for those suffering from disability or mental incapacity – both children and adults – and provides expert guidance to local authorities and others on legal issues relating to the support and care of mentally incapacitated adults and minors including issues such as medical treatment, sterilisation, abortion and parental contact.
Barbara has experience of public inquiry work. She also appears in the Care Standards Tribunal and in judicial reviews proceedings challenging the decisions of that tribunal.
