Adam is recognised as a leading junior in police law by both The Legal 500 (2007) and Chambers & Partners (2008). In the latter he is described as "a deadly advocate who adopts such a pleasant approach that before you know it he has beguiled the judge and crucified you".
Adam had a career of 10 years as a criminal practitioner before specialising in police law: an area where he acts principally for the defence in civil actions against the police as well as advising police authorities.
He is also well-known for his expertise in judicial review, the drafting of information sharing agreements and protocols (post-Bichard) and data protection. Clinical negligence, personal injury and product liability are also increasingly important areas of focus in his practice.
Adam speaks regularly on his areas of legal speciality and writes for professional journals. He is an experienced trainer, leading courses for experts and witnesses on giving evidence in court and for medical professionals – such as orthopaedic surgeons and psychiatrists – on legal issues and the structure and format of reports.
