In June we announced our support of Anna Nicholson as she embarked on taking her debut character comedy show to the Edinburgh Fringe. Anna, a receptionist at chambers since 2014, as well as a professional actress began writing the show in January, before performing it at the Brighton Fringe, across London and recently at the Edinburgh Fringe.
The show follows four characters who are all nominees for Woman of the Year; an Instagram star giving terrible advice, a bra saleswoman stirring up the next generation, an overly competitive vicar and a straight talking grandma with a naughty side. Through a combination of sketch and song Anna takes you into the worlds of her four different characters. Who wins? The audience decides.
We are pleased to join with Anna celebrating her successful festival where she enjoyed full houses (average audiences at the fringe is just 7) and received rave reviews. Here are a selection:
‘Character comedy at its finest’ ★★★★★ (Ed Fest Mag)
‘A lovely enjoyable show’ ★★★★ (One4Review)
‘A charming comic performer … funny, lively and family friendly’ (Squirrel Comedy)
She says: ‘Edinburgh fringe was an incredibly challenging, exhausting but totally rewarding experience. Being able to do a show I have written to packed rooms day after day was a joy. I am so grateful to chambers for believing in me, I hope I did you proud.’
