James House QC has successfully defended Kobe Murray who was cleared of murdering an amateur footballer at a nightclub in the West Midlands in August 2017. Mr Murray was also cleared of a manslaughter charge by the jury at Birmingham Crown Court following a 7 day trial.
Ryan Passey suffered a fatal stab wound to his heart following a brief altercation between two groups of men in the nightclub.
The prosecution alleged that Mr Murray deliberately stabbed Mr Passey causing his death. The jury accepted the defence’s case that Mr Murray had no intention of hurting the victim and the fatal wound was inflicted accidentally in the scuffle between the two groups.
