Chambers is delighted to announce that Andrew Wheeler has been successful in the latest QC Competition. The official ceremony will take place on 13 February 2017 where Andrew will be the latest member of Chambers to take Silk.
Andrew specialises in complex fraud and has extensive experience in relation to the prosecution and defence of serious fraud, associated money laundering, proceeds of crime restraint/confiscation, and compliance and regulatory matters.
Andrew has been involved in high profile cases such as R v. Saint Pir Pandariman & 10 Others where he acted as leading Counsel for the prosecution of a faith healer and ten members of his family and associates, for a multimillion pound tax fraud. After a 3 month trial, 10 defendants were convicted, and the Saint (main defendant) was sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment, with sentences totalling in excess of 50 years’ for all defendants.
Andrew is currently instructed by the SFO in relation to an alleged billion pound offshore investment fraud.
Andrew has been marked by the directories as being “excellent at picking up the threads of a case, and has great client-care skills” (Chambers & Partners, 2017). The Legal 500 remarked that Andrew is “highly regarded and known for his can-do, co-operative attitude.” (Legal 500, 2016).
