Richard Baker represents family of detained patient whose death was caused by hospital neglect
Richard Baker appeared for the family of Feisal King, a detained patient who died after absconding from the Edale Unit of Manchester Royal Infirmary in July 2010. The inquest into Feisal's death was heard at Manchester Coroners Court before a jury and lasted for 12 days. Multiple failings were identified in the care provided to Feisal whilst he was detained on the Brook Ward, several of which contributed directly to his absconding and subsequent suicide. Having considered all of the evidence the jury returned a verdict confirming that Feisal's death was contributed to by neglect. The Coroner (Mr Nigel Meadows) has written a substantial rule 43 letter to highlight those issues that might prevent similar tragedies occurring in the future.
