Success for Luke Blackburn leading Gareth Weetman in prosecution of multiple arsonist and hoax-caller

Experienced 7BR pair Luke Blackburn and Gareth Weetman prosecuted to conviction Omar Suleman, a Leicester man accused of setting 26 fires in houses, workplaces and vehicles associated with himself and his family.

He was also convicted of having made repeated hoax 999 telephone calls to the fire brigade and the police, and also to solicitors and a journalist.

The trial lasted just under six weeks, and sentence was adjourned for the preparation of psychiatric reports. 

The trial Judge indicated that he is considering passing a sentence of imprisonment for public protection.
