• Chambers congratulates Steven Ford on his appointment to silk.  Steven's appointment brings the number of QCs in chambers to 20.

• It is with delight, although also with regret at her departure, that we announce the appointment of our Head of Chambers, Kate Thirlwall QC, as a Judge of the High Court of Justice.  She will take up her appointment on the 13th April 2010 and will be assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division.

• Kate joined Chambers in 1982 and quickly gained a reputation as a formidable advocate.  Her practice ranged across civil, criminal and family work and was of such weight that it was no surprise when she was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1999.
•   
• As a silk, and latterly as our Head of Chambers, Kate has been instrumental in ensuring that 7, Bedford Row has become and remained a foremost national and international provider of legal services.  That she has done this whilst raising a family and giving her time to Bar Council Committees is a testament to her hard work and generosity of spirit.

• We were proud when Kate became our first female Head of Chambers.  We are no less proud now that she has become one of the senior judiciary.  We will miss her.
