He had a commercial background as an economist before coming to the Bar. he has written commercial software.

His early years in practice provided extensive experience in the Crown Court.

In his civil practice, William acts in fast-track and multi-track claims in personal injury, contract, commercial and vehicle recovery operator claims in restitution. He also has experience in employment tribunals including unfair dismissal, redundancy payments, unlawful deductions, lost holiday and protective awards.

  • Mansfield v NYK [2006]: Successfully argued against recovery of a vehicle recovery operator's costs in defence of the owner of a stricken lorry. Precedent established.
  • Director's dispute for top Rugby League Club.

Employment

  • Racial discrimination against senior council employee in a London borough.

Historic Sex Abuse

  • Claims against care homes for historic sexual abuse, including advice on limitation issues.

Personal Injury

  • Claim against MOD for career blight by fighter pilot forced to eject from fast jet.
  • Claim against employer for serious crush injuries to leg as featured on ITV show "Total Emergency".
  • £1/2m claim by bridesmaid badly burned in the marquee when her dress caught fire.
  • Claim for injury from air duster that exploded while dusting paper shredder.
  • Currently instructed in LVC claim, for the Claimant. Road traffic accident in which a bus passenger was injured.

Professional Negligence

  • Claim against solicitor for wrongly advising client on inadmissibility of exculpatory evidence.

Crime

  • £600,000 complex banking diversion fraud: Junior for the Crown in ten-week trial on 25 counts.
  • Multi-million pound multiple financing fraud: Junior for the defence in case that was stayed for abuse of process.
  • R v Reynolds & 7 Ors [2007] EWCA Crim 538; (2007) 2 Cr App R (S) 87: Junior for the Crown in conjoined appeals where dangerous offenders not released even though unlawful sentences passed at first instance and no lawful sentence available on appeal.
