Luke is very experienced in general criminal cases of the utmost gravity, including murder, international fraud, drug trafficking and serious sexual offences. He is instructed at present to lead for the defence in a historic multiple-complainant sexual assault case. He has been instructed in four murder cases in the last 18 months.
Luke has many years of experience in cases of physical child abuse (especially “baby shaking"), historic sexual abuse and causing death by dangerous driving. He was recently successful in the defence of a young man acquitted of a widely reported allegation of causing death by dangerous driving; the driver had been test driving a Ferrari 456 as part of his employment when a pedestrian was killed in a collision.
He has often appeared for Armed Forces personnel before Courts Martial.
Luke consistently provides the highest levels of service in all cases, but is particularly experienced in meeting the specific requirements of private clients and insurance companies. He was part of the team that recently won the acquittal of a Lancashire dot.com millionaire at Leeds Crown Court charged with attempted rape, threats to kill and false imprisonment. The court ordered a defendant's costs order to cover the private fees of counsel and solicitor.
He is an approved advocacy trainer for the Middle Temple.
