Jonathan has advised upon and conducted numerous trials in the personal injury field from straightforward fast track road traffic accidents to much more complex multi-day multi-track claims. He frequently deals with employers’ liability allegations (“6 pack cases”), stress at work claims, road traffic accidents, Highway Act claims and Occupiers’ Liability Act claims. He has advised in claims alleging historic physical and sexual abuse. He has conducted multi-track limitation trials.
He acts for Claimants and Defendants. His clients include Local Authorities, Defendant insurers and other large employers e.g. Boots plc. He has acted for the Department of Work and Pensions in employer’s liability actions. In recent years the value of the claims that he has been instructed in has increased significantly and he is regularly instructed in claims where the pleaded damages are comfortably into six figures.
He has successfully defended cases where the defendant has alleged that the claim made against it is fraudulent eg. set up road traffic accidents or fabricated injuries at work. He particularly enjoys this field of work and is keen to develop this aspect of his practice.
He has conducted numerous credit hire cases and he is very familiar with the authorities and tactics that are routinely deployed in this field.
He has appeared at numerous inquests and he has acted for bereaved families as well as for other interested parties. This has included appearing in multi-day jury inquests.
He undertakes appeals under the CICA scheme.
He will undertake Claimant work on a CFA.
